Join NHS Hull CCG and the Older People's Partnership Group in celebrating older people in Hull, a week long series of events from Monday 28 September - Sunday 4 October 2015.
UK Older People’s Day is held on 1st October each year to coincide with the UN International Day of Older Persons. The main aim of this day is to be a celebration of the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society and the economy.
Older People’s Day helps to support the campaign to challenge negative attitudes and outdated stereotypes. Across the country organisations and individuals are using this initiative to make a difference and in Hull, for the third year running, the Older People’s Partnership Group will be hosting a week-long celebration. In less than two year’s time the eyes of the nation will be on Hull City of Culture 2017 and we are joining the countdown.
This celebration will include a series of activities and events to celebrate and showcase the contributions that older people are making to our local community and the positive impact that cultural activities can have on health and wellbeing.
We hope to raise awareness of local organisations and businesses, who, through their work are helping to improve the lives of older people, helping them to stay healthy, and reducing loneliness and isolation. T
he Older People’s Partnership Group would like as many people as possible to join in the celebrations and to build on the success of last year’s events. To find out more about what is going on throughout the week, please click here and read the programme of events.
